Shine Wrestling 5: Scouting Report

With no show scheduled for December, and Shine 6 already confirmed for January, Shine signs off on 2012 with what appears to be a pretty stacked card topped with an outstanding return, as Amazing Kong returns to the wrestling ring for the first time since the Royal Rumble in January. Kong teams with Jazz in a tag main event vs Mercedes Martinez & Rain. Also on the show, an increasingly desperate Kimberly turns to Leva Bates to help her 0-4 record, and Jessicka Havok & Nikki Roxx renew an old WSU rivalry. Apart from Kong, Shine 5 also brings debuts for 5 other stars, including another former WWE star…

Ivelisse Velez
Big debut for former Chicago area indy star Juliet The Huntress, and more recently Sofia Cortez on WWE’s NXT brand … Competed in last year’s WWE Tough Enough under her given name and impressed with her determination before being eliminated on week 6 due to injury … Signed a developmental deal anyway and went on to become one of FCW/NXT’s most promising Divas, often teaming with Paige … Was released from her WWE deal in August 2012 to many people’s surprise … Has had a dark match tryout with TNA last month, losing to Tara … SHINE 5 will be her first match since the WWE release.

Opposing Ivelisse will be one of wrestling’s hottest properties, Texas’ own “Wrestling Goddess” Athena … In the last few weeks has headlined in championship matches for both SHIMMER and NCW: Femmes Fatales … Home promotion is Anarchy Championship Wrestling, where she has been a two time American Joshi champion and is the current Queen of Queens … Trained by, amongst others, the late Gen. Skandor Akbar … Preferred insult to opponents is to call them a “Hussy” … Possessor of arguably the most visually amazing finishing moves in pro-wrestling – a top rope Stunner, called the O-Face

3-year pro, who describes her weight as 133lb or “thick” … Trained by former WWF Tag Team Champion the Wild Samoan Afa at World Xtreme Wrestling … Her home promotion is World Xtreme Wrestling, where she is the current Diamond Division Champion, defeating Jenny Rose in May to begin her third reign … Lost a Loser Leaves WSU match against Jennifer Cruz last November, but returned for the Uncensored Opportunity match against Saturyne at Full Steam Ahead in October, but lost … May or may not have also been masked grappler Ezavel Suena.

Marti Belle
Two time former WSU Tag Team Champion and current WSU Spirit Champion debuted in the business in 2007 as a valet before enrolling in “The Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz’ wrestling school in New York as a wrestler … Debuted as a wrestler in 2009 … Mostly known for her work in WSU, where she used to regularly team with fellow Rodz graduate Tina San Antonio as the Belle Saints .. Has also worked for AIW, NYWC, ROH and more … Although this is her full SHINE debut, she did tangle with Christina Von Eerie as part of a SHINE branded bout on EVOLVE 17 on iPPV

Nikki St John
Longtime valet (since 2007) for POWW in the Chicago area felt the urge to kick ass herself and learned to wrestle under Jimmy Blaze, Ruff Crossing and Scott Spade … Debuted as a wrestler in early 2011 … Has competed twice at SPARKLE (the SHIMMER pre-show) and for Billy Corgan’s Resistance Pro … Got involved with a new stable in AIW (with Heidi Lovelace & Annie Social – “The Social Network”) on their most recent “Girls Night Out” show … Two-time Queen of POWW (and model) has expressed an interest in wrestling in all fifty states.
