Have you listened to the latest edition of the Women Of Wrestling Podcast yet? Featuring the heads of SHIMMER, NCW Femmes Fatales and Women Superstars Uncensored, Dave Prazak, Stephane Bruyere and Drew Cordiero spoke frankly on a number of topics such as their respective fortunes in 2012, the pros and cons of booking former WWE Divas or TNA Knockouts on a show and what they think of iPPV. Amongst all the great chat, each took the time to reveal nuggets of what we should expect in 2013 from their respective promotions.
For SHIMMER, Prazak revealed that at at the volume 53 show on April 6 in Secaucus, NJ as part of the WrestleCon event will see the return of two big stars and the debut of one of women’s wrestling’s hottest prospects. Former SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles – who has been out of action since October 2011 with a devastating knee injury – will make her long-awaited return to the promotion where she reigned supreme between April 2010 and last October, where she dropped the belt to Cheerleader Melissa on volume 42. Her injury occurred mere days later as she was in training ahead of her match against Kana for CHIKARA , with a mere double stomp causing all the problems. At the time, she was told that she could either rest and see if the injury healed of its own accord, or have surgery which would end her career.
Also making her return to SHIMMER will be recent WOW Podcast guest Amazing Kong, who has been absent since volume 35 where she defeated Kellie Skater. Kong returned to the ring following her release from WWE at SHINE 5 in November, as well as appearances for Florida Underground Wrestling and Resistance Pro.
The final major announcement was the highly anticipated news that the reigning PWWA Interim and Impact Pro Wrestling: New Zealand Women’s Champion Evie will make her US debut on the show. The kick-happy Kiwi made a huge impact in August when she won both belts inside seven days, winning tournaments to claim both titles. She has also impressed since then, engaging in a huge 30 minute draw against Skater for the Interim title at the last PWWA show and fending off challenges from Megan-Kate and Britenay to hold onto the IPW belt.
Also mentioned was the news that a WSU wrestler would be interwoven into SHIMMER in 2013, with 2012 Discovery of the Year Kimber Lee set to make her debut as well.
Three big matches were announced for Femmes Fatales XI on March 30, which will see two pairs of rivals square off, as well as a first-time ever match. Kalamity will defend the International Championship against Mercedes Martinez, who earned the right after beating LuFisto in a steel cage at Femmes Fatales X in November – this will also be the rubber match between the two, as each has a victory over the other in the promotion. Meanwhile, the Super Hardcore Anime will face SHIMMER Champion Saraya Knight in a non-title match, after Saraya made it clear that she wanted LuFisto, and went after her at the end of the cage match.
Also announced was a potentially titanic clash between Cheerleader Melissa and WSU Champion Jessicka Havok. Considering their paths have not crossed before, this is a mouth-watering contest which should produce big hitting, plenty of action and no let-up in the beatdowns.
Speaking of WSU, Drew Corediero also revealed that the promotion’s An Ultraviolet Affair show in conjunction with Combat Zone Wrestling could see another intergender match, much like the ones displayed in the interval between the Beyond Wrestling and WSU shows back in October before Full Steam Ahead. He also reminded us that even though Havok will be selecting her own opponent to defend the WSU title against on February 9, the top contender is surely Lexxus, who was not pinned in the triple threat main event at Full Steam Ahead and also exchanged words with the champion as the show ended.
As you can see, the latest WOW Podcast was full or revelations and thoughts, is the first roundtable show we have produced, and some have called it the best WOW Podcast ever. While that’s a personal opinion, we are certainly very proud of it and believe that it is a great chance to hear the promoters of the top three women’s wrestling promotions in North America chatting opening and honestly on a range of topics. Give it a listen, see what you think, and make sure you lsiten all the way to the end for some Christmas/wrestling mirth.
