Monster-gun members win Stardom titles

Alpha Female Kyoko Kimura Hailey Hatred StardomThe reign of inaugural World Of Stardom Champion Nanae Takahashi is over. Her run with the title – which began on July 24, 2011 – came to an end at today’s Korukuen Hall show in Tokyo, Japan at the hands of Alpha Female.

The 6’1″ German – who went to a 30 minute draw with the Takahashi last October – snared the title in the main event of the show which was hyped by a hell of a show poster last month. The win is a massive boost for Alpha as she is the first European to hold any top joshi championship – which is a landmark moment and something that she can use as a marketing point in the future – and remains undefeated in the promotion. More pressing is the fact that as champion, she has a future in Stardom as she will have to defend the belt at some point.

Alpha is one quarter of the imposing Kimura Monster-gun stable, which enjoyed more success on the card…

As you can see from the picture uploaded to Alpha Female’s Facebook page, group leader Kyoko Kimura and her original partner in crime, gaijin and “outsider” Hailey Hatred captured the Goddesses of Stardom Titles from Natsuki☆Taiyo and Yoshiko in a match which concluded when Yoshiko at a big Hatred lariat.

While Hailey is happy to add another title to her vast collection, she also took to her Facebook page to make a comment, which includes thoughts on the name of the championship itself, saying: “Didn’t take long to win one of these at STARDOM. I guess I’m a goddess now..What a stupid name for a tag championship”.

These two victories cement Monster-gun as the team to beat in Stardom. With newest member Amazon Ayesha Ray carving her way through the competition, winning her first four matches in the promotion – the latest being on this show, beating Act Yasukawa, Kaori Yoneyama & Yuhi in a 4-way – the stable has all the momentum going into Stardom’s next big show at Sumo Hall on April 29. With no title matches scheduled until then, it looks like Alpha will make her first defence of the World Of Stardom title there, against an opponent who will be determined by a four-woman one-night tournament next Sunday, with the semi finals being Io Shirai v Kaori Yoneyama, and Hiroyo Matsumoto v Dark Angel.

The Sumo Hall show will also be where Wonder Of Stardom Champion Yuzuki Aikawa retires due to injuries suffered in the ring. It promises to be an emotionally-charged event.
