Funkadactyls & Bellas to clash at WrestleMania XXIX

Wrestlemania Cameron Naomi Bellas Funkadactyls WWEWe mentioned it during yesterday’s Roundup and today it came to pass: WWE made it official that at WrestleMania XXIX on April 7 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ Team Rhodes Scholars and the Bella TwinsNikki and Brie – will square off against Tons of Funk and the FunkadactylsCameron and Naomi.

While Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes have been on a mission to censure the antics of Brodus Clay and Tensai since before Elimination Chamber, Clay’s backing dancers were brought into the fold following the return of the Bellas on the March 11 Raw, and set their sights on Cameron and Naomi on the subsequent SmackDown.

All four tandems have been crossing paths since then, with the fights and squabbles escalating – leading to the Bellas making their in-ring return against the Funkadactyls on tonight’s episode of Main Event. The match was recorded yesterday before this week’s SmackDown tapings – but we won’t spoil the result – but even before the contest has been broadcast, the WrestleMania match was made official.

As a match, it should be fine. Cameron isn’t much of a wrestler – though she gets to follow in the footsteps of Melina and Alicia Fox by competing at a WrestleMania – and Naomi will likely be given enough moments to thrill the crowd with some of her athletic and gymnastic skills – something which Dolph Ziggler put over on Twitter after watching the Main Event contest – while the Bellas are best in short and sweet affairs. Their collective limitations can be supported by the two male tag teams, and should mean that everyone comes out smelling of roses.

Now… even though there are 10 matches announced for WrestleMania so far, is there room to squeeze in a Divas Title match, or is that asking a little too much?
