Mercedes Martinez announced for Bellatrix v SHIMMER

Mercedes martinez Gilda PasquilParticipant number 4 has been announced for Bellatrix 7 – and just like LuFisto, Christina Von Eerie and Bellatrix World Champion Courtney Rush, it is someone who will be wrestling for the first time on British soil.

12-year veteran Mercedes Martinez has a huge litany of great matches, and ostensibly has tenure in some of the biggest all-women promotions in North America. She is a SHIMMER Original – helping to put the promotion on the map with her 20-minute draw with Sara Del Rey on volume 1 – was Women Superstars Uncensored‘s Champion for close to three years, is tearing up the scene for SHINE Wrestling and is currently the NCW Femmes Fatales International Champion, defeating Kalamity for the belt at Femmes Fatales XI back in March.

In recent years, the 32-year old has scaled back the number of promotions she wrestles for, but she is still a huge star – and as she discussed with us on an early Women Of Wrestling Podcast, was a fingernail away from signing a deal with WWE. he has also racked up stamps in her passport, competing in Australia and Japan in recent years. Incidentally, she was a fingernail away from debuting in the UK in March last year for the first Bellatrix show, but she wasn’t allowed access to the country.

As with LuFisto and Von Eerie, Martinez has ties with Bellatrix promoter Saraya Knight – but unlike them, they are on friendly terms, having formed a unit in Femmes Fatales, and the pair will take on LuFisto and Sweet Cherrie in the main event of Femmes Fatales XIII in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on October 26.

Martinez’s announcement means that four of the five names have been revealed for the show on October 6 in Norwich, England. The final participant will be the reigning SHIMMER Champion, who is likely to be Cheerleader Melissa, depending on what happens between now and the show date. For all intents and purposes, we have our lineup – so now we wait to see what matches we are likely to see. Get involved in the comments section below and let us know what contests you would be interested in seeing and why. The show will be broadcast on iPPV, but if you wanted to be at Epic Studios to see it live, click here to buy tickets.
