It was meant to happen in October but injuries meant that it had to be postponed, but Cheerleader Melissa and Courtney Rush will tangle at NCW Femmes Fatales XIV on April 19 next year to try and determine who will be the number one contender to the International Championship – but a stipulation has been added to the contest.
The pair will wrestle a 30-minute Iron Woman Match at the event in Montreal, QC, Canada – and emotions are running high because of their history, which stems back to last July, when they first met in a Femmes Fatales ring.
Rush stepped into the spot left by Kalamity‘s surprise absence to fight Melissa at Femmes Fatales XII on July 6, where the winner was scheduled to be the top contender. The match ended in a no-contest after the referee disqualified both of them – nothing was solved, though emotions ran high between the two as the locker room emptied to separate them.
A rematch was scheduled for Femmes Fatales XIII on October 26, but Rush suffered a fractured clavicle in mid-September, which put her on the shelf for the rest of 2013. As a result, Melissa was bumped around certain matches – first, she was meant to face Xandra Bale in the number one contender’s match instead, but then Bale suffered a broken fibula which ruled her out; from there, she was inserted into the 3-way involving Kimber Lee, Angie Skye & Christina Von Eerie to make it a 4-way, but was then moved to the main event to replace Saraya Knight after the Brit was forced to cut short her North America tour and return home.
The resulting match with Melissa and reigning International titleholder Mercedes Martinez against LuFisto and Sweet Cherrie saw a continuance of the Melissa/Rush feud as Courtney came out to prevent the SHIMMER Champion from scoring a cheap win.
With the tensions as high as the stakes, this will likely be a ferocious battle, and one that will be a great spectacle live. You can order tickets to be at the show by clicking here.
