Hikaru Shida to return to the UK

Hikaru ShidaShe has been a freelancer for less than a week, but details on what Hikaru Shida will be up to are already creeping out. One of the revelations came earlier today as 4 Front Wrestling announced the the former Ice Ribbon ICEx60 (now ICEx∞) and International Ribbon Tag Team Champion will be returning to the UK in October, close to three years to the day that she made her debut in the country as part of the well-received Pro Wrestling: EVE v Ice Ribbon events in Nottingham, England.

In the official statement, the promotion says:

Women’s wrestling returns to 4FW with a vengeance this October, Hikaru Shida makes her debut for 4FW all the way from Japan to put womens wrestling in 4FW on the map. If you have not seen this phenomenal young talent, check her out on YouTube. Keep an eye out for more announcements as the women’s division looks to take off with a bang.

As mentioned, Shida was one of four women – the others being Tsukasa Fujimoto, then-ICEx60 titleholder Hikari Minami and Emi Sakura to make the trip from Japan to represent Ice Ribbon against Pro Wrestling: EVE’s best. Shida wrestled four matches over the weekend – the first day saw her wrestle an exhibition match where she and Fujimoto lost to Sakura & Minami, then was beaten by Alpha Female on the first EVE v ICE show; the following day was a win over Kay Lee Ray, then a defeat to Nikki Storm.

Since then, Shida has come on leaps and bounds – and she was no slouch back in 2011. The 25-year old has worked for virtually every major josh organisation and boasts tag team title reigns in Ice Ribbon, Reina Joshi Puroresu, OZ Academy and Pro Wrestling WAVE to go along with her ICEx60 singles title reign between December 2011 and September 2012. In addition, she was the main event match at Bull Nakano‘s retirement show and made her debut for SHIMMER last October (results here and here) defeating Mia Yim in her debut, losing a 3-way to Madison Eagles in a match which also involved Kana, and trading wins with Nicole Matthews – with her win over the Canadian Ninja being a Kendo Stick Match.

Needless to say, Shida’s star has never been higher, and fans in the UK are in for a treat on the shows between October 3-5. Click here to buy tickets for the events.
