Over a week ago, Yoshiko succeeded her first singles championship in her three-year career by ending Io Shirai’s 468-day as World of STARDOM Champion at “Stardom X Stardom.” After peeling back-to-back successful title defenses, the 925 onlookers in attendance watched as Shirai failed in her eleventh title defense to the 21-year old, despite originally defeating her last June at the Korakuen Hall upon first title defense. The 2014 5*STAR Grand Prix will be kicking off this Sunday at Shinkiba 1st RING, which both Shirai and Yoshiko will be involved. The cards for the tournament through the month of September have already been announced and listed here.
However, footage of the title switch has surfaced online, as Shirai was not the only competitor to lose her title. The Tawashis’ (Mayu Iwatani, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Miho Wakizawa) reign as Artist of STARDOM Champions also ended, dropping the trio belts to Tsubasa Kuragaki, Kaori Yoneyama and Hatuhinode Kamen. The Goddesses of STARDOM Championship changed hands as Kairi Hojo and Nanae Takahashi unseated Alpha Female and Kyoko Kimura.
The show is separated into three parts, with a contest between Maya and Azumi kicking things off. For this show to have occurred less than two weeks ago and already available for your viewing, the timing is incredible. Feel free to comment as to your feelings on the show or the title switches.
