When it comes to NXT, a lot of attention is paid to Charlotte and Bayley – and with good reason, as they are engaging characters and receive a lot of the screen time. However, we shouldn’t overlook the development of Sasha Banks, who has really embraced her Boss character to become an integral part of the women’s roster in developmental. Don’t be surprised if she is the one to usurp Charlotte for the Women’s Championship in the future.
We were somewhat surprised when we learned that WWE had signed her to a contract, but she is a prime example that a wrestler does not necessarily need to work the higher profile promotions in order to get on WWE’s radar. Competing in places around the northeast of the US like Top Rope Promotions, Chaotic Wrestling, Connecticut Wrestling Entertainment and New England Championship Wrestling under the name of Mercedes KV saw her wrestle the likes of Nikki Roxx, Kasey Ray, Greek Barbie, Alexxis Nevaeh, Luscious Latasha, Mistress Belmont and Veda Scott, which is a wide range of styles and sizes to work with.
The video we have below is KV’s final indie match before reporting to Florida to work with WWE. It sees her take on Ivy Fit on CTWE’s 4th Anniversary Show on August 18, 2012 in a rematch from their contest 9 months previous, which was won by Mercedes. The match itself takes up about half the video, while the rest is post-match stuff involving special referee Frankie Arion in order to forward story lines after KV’s departure.
