Big matches announced for SHINE 22; Several SHINE stars off to China with WWN

It’s been a newsworthy 24hrs at WWN (World Wrestling Network) HQ today as promoter Sal Hamaoui announced the marquee matchups for next Friday’s SHINE 22 event, as well as participants for the much anticipated WWN tour of China in November.

Ivelisse by Modern Myth PhotographyAs it’s one of those SHINE events which syncs up its international talent with SHIMMER (and other female wrestling promotions), there are a number of high profile “dream match” type encounters for some of the fly-in talents, not least in the main event where the reigning SHINE Champion Ivelisse Velez defends her title against Australia’s finest, Madison Eagles, in what is sure to be a hard-hitting match. Although Eagles’ W/L record in SHINE isn’t particularly impressive, she brings a worldwide record that is practically second to none, being a former SHIMMER and PWWA Champion.

Also in international action, New Zealand’s Evie returns to the promotion, to take on Valkyrie member Allysin Kay, while Australia’s “Rate Tank” Kellie Skater teams with the Lucha Sisters of Mia Yim & Leva Bates to take on the newly formed ‘Valifornia’ stable, under the tutelage of So Cal Val. At this point, Valifornia comprises the tag team of BTY (Marti Belle & Jayme Jameson) and former SNS Express member Nevaeh.

The only other announced match so far is for the SHINE Tag Team Titles, as the champions Legendary (Malia Hosaka & Brandi Wine) will defend their titles against The Buddy System of Heidi Lovelace & Solo Darling. It’s worth noting here that not only are The Buddy System coming off a win at SHINE 21 against Jayme Jameson & Amanda Rodriguez, but back at SHINE 17 when the Tag Team Titles were first established, The Buddy System actually defeated Legendary in the opening round of that tournament. Could we see an upset title change? Quite possibly. The show is up for pre-order as usual at WWNLive.com

Although the full card was not announced as promised, Sal Hamaoui has decreed that the rest of the card would be available on Monday if you’re still not sure. There are matches still to be announced featuring Taylor Made, Su Yung, Saraya Knight, Nikki Storm, Rhia O’Reilly, La Rosa Negra, Thunderkitty, Justine Silver and the debuting Aussie star KC Cassidy.

WWN China PosterAs far as the China tour is concerned, there are four SHINE related talents currently booked to join a WWN Tour also featuring wrestlers from EVOLVE, DGUSA and FIP. Alongside DGUSA Champion Ricochet, FIP Champion Trent Baretta and more, the shows will feature SHINE Champion Ivelisse Velez, Su Yung, Allysin Kay and Mia Yim – so there’s an excellent chance that the SHINE Championship may feature its first international title defence.

The tour takes in the following four dates
November 10th – Yicheng City, Hebei Province – Golden Sport Hall
November 12th – Emei City, Sichuan Province – Emei Sport Hall
November 14th – Chengdu City, Sichuan Province – Wen Jiang Sport Center
November 16th – Beijing – Wan Shi Da Stadium

Interestingly, one half of the former Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew, and former SHIMMER Championship contender, Lacey, has been announced as the Event Hostess for the tour. Lacey has lived in China for some years.
